MARCEL Room

Multicasting, multi-site connections are at the heart of the MARCEL network.  Several possibilities exist and the technical development of multi-point connections is increasing daily, all of them with limitations of one sort or the other.  Experimentation is on-going.

Many MARCEL members are connected to Access Grid, the multipoint platform available over the academic research network.  AG permits connections with several sites at the same time.
While the platform works very well for mulit-point conferencing, it is less good for the performing arts, particularly music.  Some MARCEL partners are working on that aspect of AG and anyone interested in further development of a multicasting platform for art is invited to contact us for more information.

MARCEL Room is a permanent space within the Access Grid network. If you have the Access Grid software installed, you can see if anything is happening in the MARCEL Room where many of the on-line events take place.

If you are already a registered Access Grid user, the MARCEL Room can be found by logging in to Access Grid client, in the default Nonprofit venue you will find the MARCEL Room.
Access Grid, in an earlier version was accessible through the web.  That is no longer the case.  In order to have access to it, you will need the Access Grid software available for free downloading at their site, posted here.
